New Meta layoffs start, with Mark Zuckerberg firing software developers and personnel in technical positions.

 

Meta layoff: Several Meta employees on LinkedIn have announced that this tech company has started sacking people in technical roles, including user experience, software engineering, graphics programming, and more.



Through Ankita Garg: To save costs, Meta has started a new wave of layoffs. As many as 21,000 employees of Facebook's parent firm have already been let go, and it appears that more are being let go. The Internet business Meta has begun firing individuals from technical positions, including those in user experience, software engineering, graphics programming, and other technical fields, according to many Meta employees on LinkedIn.

The second round of layoffs was also verified to CNBC by a Meta representative. One of the fired employees claimed that on Wednesday, layoffs were completed in the teams that deal with the products. Meta also intends to provide pink slips to employees who work in positions with a business focus, such as finance, legal, and HR.

Furthermore, the most recent round of layoffs at Meta has also impacted those who work as gameplay programmers. These are the individuals who are involved in the company's virtual and augmented reality products. One of the dismissed workers added that the IT teams that won't be affected in April might be in May.

A Facebook business program manager posted on LinkedIn, "I woke up this morning to the unfortunate news that I was one of the many laid-off from Meta today."

Recall that the business announced another round of layoffs in March 2023 after terminating 11,000 workers in November 2022. He disclosed that the company will eliminate 10,000 additional workers, bringing the total to 20,000. CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg already issued apologies to anyone affected by the layoffs in an email.


How many employees will be let go in the most recent round of layoffs for the month of April is still unknown. According to estimates, the corporation is laying off 4,000 more employees. However, there is currently no formal information available.

In a previous statement, Zuckerberg said that the announcement of layoffs was made for a variety of reasons. One is the poor growth and economic slowdown that Meta has been experiencing. The company has been experiencing slow revenue growth as a result. The software company added in an email that it overhired recently due to business requirements. However, as Meta struggles to generate income and has poor development, it is firing employees.
